The Red Frog Beach Rainforest Resort & Marina comes to life in Bocas del Toro Panama

This new Panama island resort features natural amenities in one of Panama’s most unique beach and rainforest destinations.

Bocas del Toro, Panama – May 25th, 2010 (Press Release) A growing trend in tourism is that travelers are looking for destinations that offer more than just a chance to lounge around on the beach – they want enriching experiences that connect them to the local environment. The Red Frog Beach Rainforest Resort in Bocas del Toro, Panama not only has some of the top-rated beaches in Central America, but has implemented a resort plan that considers this growing tourism trend that emphasizes “natural” amenities.

Isla Bastimentos, located 30 miles from the border of Costa Rica, is renowned for its stunning beaches and lush rainforest as well as being home to Panama’s national marine park. The activities offered at the resort include: fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, surfing, hiking, bird watching, cave tours, and access to numerous Bocas del Toro surf spots. In addition, Bastimentos Sky Canopy Tour, a new zip line created by one of the top Costa Rica zip line design teams, will open in the summer of 2010. The 2.5 hour elevated tour will include information about the island ecosystem and feature 7 zip lines through the jungle (as high as 250 feet), a Tarzan swing and dramatic rainforest and ocean views. Oceans Group International, which recently reorganized the resort, has sought to create a vacation destination that offers much more than just great beaches. According to Steven Bolton of Oceans Group International: “We want our guests to experience a Panama vacation at Red Frog Beach that is unique and meaningful. A wide variety of ocean, beach and jungle amenities at our resort enables guests to connect with Mother Nature in their own personal way.”

Oceans Group International has made a number of changes to the initial resort plan that embrace this vision: the resort includes extensive undeveloped land and natural beaches accessed by footpaths; a tropical garden with over 75 different indigenous fruits and plants graces the marina village entrance; and a resort recycling program is up and running.

Although construction continues at the project, the Red Frog Beach Resort can currently accommodate guests in luxurious villas with private pools that sleep 6 to 10 people for as little as $240 a night. Other accommodations at the resort include a completed surf and jungle hotel/hostel called Bocas Bound that is a perfect place for travelers on a tight budget. Day visitors are also welcome to come and enjoy the water and rainforest activities such as Red Frog Beach and the new zip line. The Red Frog Marina has also opened and is positioned to be a premier destination for the international boating community looking for a Panama Marina in hurricane-free Caribbean waters. There are also two restaurants, an expansive open-air jungle lounge that features a bar, games, hammocks, movie area, and a future beach activity center and surf school.

This Panama Resort is currently welcoming tourists, tour operators, real estate brokers, travel agents, and yachts and sailboats to visit Isla Bastimentos. The resort is also offering Bocas del Toro real estate in the form of titled lots, finished villas, and private jungle lodges.

Isla Bastimentos - Red Frog Beach

Red Frog Beach: Located on a Caribbean island renowned for its beaches and biodiversity, this emerging Bocas Del Toro Resort combines the best of beach and rain forest grandeur. Strategically placed in the most beautiful locations in Bocas Del Toro, Red Frog Beach offers the opportunity to invest, live in paradise, or experience a memorable vacation. One side of the island is the perfect retreat for those seeking adventure and picturesque beaches. The other side of the island offers crystalline waters that flow through unique marine ecosystems. Come and see this truly unique island landscape—Red Frog Beach and Rain Forrest Resort.

Hillside Villa Rentals: There are currently several private Villas to rent at Red Frog Beach. These Villas are located on hillside looking northward out to the Caribbean. Each Villa has a private pool, outdoor BBQ, high speed internet, and more. Investors appreciate the option to place their Villa into a full property management system.

Red Frog Marina: This is an idyllic setting for a Bocas Marina. Open, but not yet completed, the composite decking , aluminum alloy framing and flexible anchor system make these docks among the highest quality of any Marina in Central America. Very few marinas in the Caribbean and Central America which can provide a beautiful beach within a short walk from the marina docks. The Marina is naturally sheltered from the elements with depths around 30ft and little tidal change. This amenity will attract many boats when the Marina begins operating at full service levels. There are also boater lodging accommodations called Bocas Bound that will open January 1st, 2010.

Hill Top Restaurant: Delicious Panamanian food at an affordable price. Enjoy music while looking out on Bastimentos Harbor. Meet fellow travelers from all over the world. Sit down, relax and have a beverage.

Activity Center and Island Pavilion: Located within the Hilltop Restaurant, this large covered pavilion is a great place to surf the free wireless internet, grab a reclining chair, grab a book or magazine. Share your surfing/hiking/kayaking adventures from the day with other travelers.

Beaches: You can walk and hike to nearly 5 beaches from Red Frog Beach. Some of these beaches are entirely secluded and pristine. Only a short walk to Red Frog Beach—the most popular and renowned beach in the area.

New! Beach Bar – Palma De Roca: Opened in October 2009, this bar provides hammocks, chairs and beer for sale. It is the ideal location to kick back and relax. Be sure to visit “The Point” boardwalk that extends to the edge of the peninsula and watch the waves crash against the rocks.

Hike, Sight See, and Explore: Isla Bastimentos is a World Heritage Site for good reason; the natural beauty, canopy rain forest, dynamic coastline and exotic wildlife are extraordinary.

Surfing: Surfing in Bocas del Toro is great! We can arrange for surf lesson and surf board rentals through Bocas Town. It is possible to even walk or hike to some surf spots from the Resort (save money on the water taxi).

Snorkeling and diving: There are several places to snorkel and dive around the island and throughout Bocas Del Toro. We can help arrange a free water dive and recommend a number of places to go snorkeling.

Tropical Garden: Over 50 types of indigenous plant and tree species have been added here. These plants include edible items such as passion fruit, star fruit, coffee, and amazon tree grape. There are also a number of plants that give off pleasant aromas that visitors will enjoy (these scents also help repel bugs). Heliconia & hybiscus should bring many birds and frogs to visit.

Kayaking: You can kayak through unique mangrove eco-systems in a calm glassy bay; or, for the more experienced kayaker—go out on the beach side of the island and visit some exotic keys and islet coves. It is amazing.

Boat Charter or Catamaran Tour: For under $40 for the entire day, we can arrange all day charters around Bocas Del Toro. Get some friends together and make this a once in a lifetime experience on a 40 ft. cruising yacht.

**Ask the Red Frog staff about other amenities that may be available in the future: Horseback Riding, Snuba Diving, Wakeboarding, Wake surfing, snorkel gear rental, body board and surf board rental, Mountain biking, movie projection capabilities at Commons Pavilion, conservation volunteer opportunities and more.
